Narcotics Anonymous came to Mississippi by way of Atlanta, Georgia, North Alabama and Tennessee. The first meetings were established in the late 70s, early 80s, with many of the original meetings still in existence – in North Central Mississippi with Mainline in Clarksdale, in Mid-Mississippi with Foglifters and New Beginnings in Jackson, and in North East Mississippi with the Tupelo Group. Mississippi’s first recorded donation to NA World Services came from Corinth.

Soon after forming, the Tupelo Group hosted a Basic Text Literature Committee. After Tupelo Group celebrated its one-year anniversary with Bill Brooks traveling from Alabama to speak, the MS Region was formed with its very first meeting at a Holiday Inn in Jackson, MS. Unable to sustain itself, the Region folded in the late 80s, only to reform in the early 90s as we know it today.
